Bedford, UK. June 5th

"Travel isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that's okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind." Anthony Bourdain

It was a quiet day with a misty rain that came in waves. Nic and I slept in and then drove around with Rob and James to antique shows in the area. This is something Rob and Nic did as children, so it was fun to recreate the experience. The major find for the day was a skull necklace found by James.

We also were able to see some planes from Shuttleworth. We had hoped to go in and watch the planes, but the cost was 42 pounds, around $50 each, so we parked nearby and wandered along the path. We were still able to see a few World War 2 planes fly overhead. Nic and I were both astonished at flying in an open plane. The pilots must have been frozen!

As evening drew on, I went for a run in the mist, finding new trails in the wood and feeling a little more oriented in my surroundings. I think that path and I could be fast friends.

We rounded the night out with fish and chips (veggie burger for me). It was shockingly good and cheap. James recommended the pineapple fritter, it was like a pineapple donut. So delicious.

It was a good day to lay low and rest. London calls today with lots of walking and way more photos. We are headed to Westminster Abbey to round out our tour of cathedrals. Be forewarned.
